Blog #107 Tariffs: The Globalist Strategy Dies Hard

April 4, 2025

The reaction to Trump’s “Liberation Day” was swift and extreme, driven by hyperbole and fear.

Yet, so many know so little about Tariffs.

What they hear is that Trump is bringing on the apocalypse with unilateral tariffs against all countries, including our partner allies. The anti-Trump Main Media has their hair on fire.

How outrageous! We are going into a Trump-caused recession, my 401K is hurting, stocks crashed, my God, life, as we know it, is coming to an end.

Take a breath, folks. A definition and some history: Governments impose tariffs to raise revenue, protect domestic industries, or exert political leverage over another country.

After World War II, the Marshall Plan was implemented to aid Europe and other regions around the world that had been devastated by conflict. It was a brilliant plan with many vehemently opposed to giving away our funds to our former enemies that caused many cities and countries to be reduced to rubble. This occurred during the late 1940s and continued through the 1950s and 1960s.

Specifically, the “General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade” (GATT) was signed by 23 countries and served as a treaty to minimize barriers to international trade.

China was admitted as a new member to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in 1986.

Soon, there was increased concern about Communist China, so President Clinton allowed them to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), which replaced the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), in December 2001. This move provided them with trade and investment advantages to foster economic growth. The thinking was that if we could get China to be an important member of a global economy, the risk of war with the Communists would be mitigated.

This formed the basis for the Globalist Strategy, where America would police the oceans with a massive investment in a Blue Water Navy to ensure the free flow of international trade as the international naval police force. Companies would outsource to the low-cost country.

At the same time, tariffs were established by most countries to prevent American companies from competing with their own. American politicians, both Republican and Democratic, have acquiesced to the tariff penalties imposed by these countries for decades. Worse, tariffs are also complimented by “dumping” or government funding of products at prices that cannot be commercially matched in the US.

Unfortunately, the WTO arrangement was too successful, allowing China and other countries to experience massive growth, and China alone became the manufacturing hub for the entire world.

Like a Python snake slowly wrapping around you, the world became dependent on China. Our weapons systems in the Army/Navy/Air Force/Space Force are even dependent on China for critical parts.

No President in either party would take the political hit by addressing the issue directly and comprehensively as Trump is now doing. The problem took over 80 years to create, but now the US is drowning in national debt from wars, globalist trade disadvantages, waste, criminality, and bad management.

The National Debt is now about $37 Trillion and climbing. It simply is unsustainable, even as politicians ignore the problem. Please re-read this: Our increasing debt is unsustainable.

Like rats following the pied piper towards a cliff, Americans have tried to believe that it is not a problem for them. But it will be a disaster for our grandchildren. The fact is that we do not have the ability to print an unlimited amount of money. History has proven that to be a disaster.

Today, we have a crushing list of tariffs that has hollowed out the US manufacturing capability, which reaches across nearly all industries. We simply cannot ignore it any longer, or America is doomed. This is no exaggeration.

Unlike past fake references to “existential threats” by Democrats, the future of the US has a real existential threat to our way of life, as we have squandered our wealth and resources in the most disgraceful and disastrous ways possible.

Look at some of the long-standing worst tariffs against America:

China = 34-67%; Europe EU = 39%; Vietnam = 90%; Taiwan = 64%; Japan = 46%; India = 52%. For example, this means that for every dollar value of a US product, China raises the price by 67%, more or less, depending on the product. And so it goes. Apparently, it is okay for countries to penalize America to their benefit and America has accepted being the sucker for decades with such discrimination.

The White House on X: "LIBERATION DAY RECIPROCAL TARIFFS 🇺🇸 https://t.co/ODckbUWKvO" / X

The reaction from China? It raised the tariffs against the US again.

Perhaps positive signs: Vietnam and Israel declare their intention to have zero tariffs. Also, General Motors Co. is increasing production of full-size pickup trucks at its assembly plant near Fort Wayne, Indiana, and hiring hundreds of temporary employees.

If Vietnam, India, Taiwan, and S. Korea or Japan submit to zero or reciprocal tariffs, that will create enough momentum to change the dynamic in favor of Trump and the US. No country wants to be the last to accept reciprocal tariffs.

These tariffs have remained in place for many years. Americans have become numb or ignorant of the price we pay. Cheap Chinese goods did not increase our standard of living. It increased our vulnerability and reduced our security, stifling or eliminating industries and job opportunities.

But instead of fixing the problem, left-liberals, Republicans, and anti-Trumpers have no clue or will not face the criticality about how devastating this has been.

Over 90,000 manufacturing plants in the United States have closed or relocated to other countries.

Most pharmaceuticals are now manufactured in China and are, therefore, exempt from Trump’s tariffs. He has no choice for now. We don’t have sources in the US – they are all gone. Imagine we are in a war and cannot get critical life-saving medicines since our enemy controls our production in another country. Even so, we still run into shortages of many medicines in hospitals.

We have many of our electronics, including those for defense, aerospace, all types of vehicles, appliances, televisions, computers, and just about anything you use every day, which are now made in China.

We have created a monster, and we have paid for it to happen for years. We set ourselves up to be hostages.

Now, consider if Trump achieves the goal of both FAIR and FREE trade with other countries. It is a way to lower the ocean level of prices across the board for everyone. We must stand firm against the egregious tariffs forced on America.

We simply cannot continue to support the world, to send money for every kind of conceived left-liberal idea, to provide global military protection at our cost, and allow any and all to migrate here from failed countries, and we cannot succeed in nation-building and cultural change in other countries.

Even Nancy Pelosi demanded in 1996 that the “President must stop the China-US relationship which is a job loser for the US.” But it was empty rhetoric. Barack Obama also said that reciprocal tariffs were good. But for many administrations, there was talk but NO ACTION.

We must stop the Obama attitude that everything is America’s fault, and we must apologize to other countries for our success, our involvement, and our leadership. Remember Obama’s “apology tour” of the Middle East?

America has been the most generous nation on Earth. As a result, we have gone too far and created a view that America deserves to give away its wealth.  This is the belief of many left- liberal fascists. Instead of being grateful, too many countries are envious and full of hate for America. It's all crazy, but it's reality.

Trump intends to use the Tariffs to pay down the debt we spent on wars to protect other people/countries. He may also be able to reduce our taxes across the board, including social security (which the Democrats/Biden made taxable in the LBJ administration).

Therefore, prices for products may increase if countries fail to follow China's example from Trump’s first term – absorbing the increase without raising prices. However, even if others do not reduce tariffs to “kind reciprocal” levels, Americans can cope with it by paying lower taxes and enjoying higher disposable income.

Expect the situation to worsen before it improves. Remember, it took decades of stupidity to create a problem that must be solved with a complete reset. Without some sacrifice and tough love, the cliff is directly ahead of us. Imagine another Depression with dependence on countries like China, India, and the EU. We have no means of manufacturing most goods – even those essential for our health, transportation, and military defense.

If Trump fails, as all Democrats hope and pray that he does, then we have delayed our own national failure.

Tariffs are international taxes that cripples economies sooner or later. That often leads to personal shock, social chaos and conflict, immediate poverty, increased crime, and eventually war.

America must protect itself since no one else will.

We must open our eyes to our challenge.

Pray that Trump is right, or else.
